Mission Statement

Alliance for Overseas Adoptees aims to establish an inclusive community of adoptees to provide aid for all who have undergone the overseas adoption process

Connect With us

Our Approach

By instituting a mentor-mentee program, adoptees will be able to form a relationship with a personalized guide who offers insight on how to navigate through the obstacles of growing up with this unique background. Regularly hosted events and group gatherings will allow our community of adoptees to gather and talk through challenges, as well as listen to guest speakers who share their stories and wisdom. In the future, we hope to be able expand operations to offer scholarships and additional resources, or sponsor trips back to China.

If you’d like to make a donation to us, please visit our “Contact” page and we will get back to you shortly!

We are an IRS 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 84-3738364)

Layow Yu

Layow Y.

Alliance Director

Hi! My name is LaYow, and I am currently a senior studying biology and French with a minor in anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis. Some of my passions are doing laboratory research in oncology and mentoring Chinese adoptees in the St. Louis area! My hopes for this organization are to connect people with similar life experiences and create a supportive community where we can foster friendship, inclusivity, guidance, self-confidence, and identity development. Everybody deserves to mold and discover their own identity especially with regards to culture, ethnicity, religion, and nationality, and we hope to provide overseas adoptees with a platform and community that will help them do so.

Snehi Mukkamalla

Snehi M.

Alliance Director

I am a senior Psychology major at The College of New Jersey! On campus, I am passionate about decreasing power-based personal violence among my peers and increasing inclusivity and awareness on stigmatized issues. Starting next semester, I will be working on a research lab focusing on identity development and social inequity in educational attainment and access for adolescents across the African Diaspora. I believe all adolescents should have equal opportunities for happiness and success, which is why the mission of Alliance for Overseas Adoptees is one I hold close to my heart. It is a chance to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for the cause as I do in order to bring about a bigger change. I wish to dedicate my time to offer all my support to every overseas adoptee, as well as their families. I also hope to help guide every adoptee onto a path of self-love and acceptance.

Ludi Yu

Ludi Y.

President

Ludi is a freshman attending Northwestern Univeristy in Evanton, IL. She had a passion for this topic ever since she learned that one of her closest childhood friends was originally an orphan from China that was adopted by a loving family right here in central Jersey! Now that she is older, she is finally able to take action and help those in similar predicaments. She will do everything in her power to offer as much help and support for you and your family as she possibly can! She's looking forward to getting acquainted with all of you :)

I believe that everyone deserves to live an environment where they feel comfortable, safe, and welcome. I think that Alliance for Overseas Adoptees is a great place to begin. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you all!
